Super cute balloon birthday cards done two ways
Back to cardmaking today with some simple children’s cards
I say childrens, but actually with the right colour combination, they’d be just as nice for adults too.
This design was inspired by something I found over on Pinterest a while ago. I love balloon cards generally but I liked the idea of not seeing the full balloon. I also though this would be a fantastic opportunity to bring out the brightly coloured cardstock.
To make these cards you can do one of two things:
- Use die cutter to cut out a balloon and then chop off the bits you don’t need after tracing round your card blank
- Using the Silhouette software, create a balloon and place it on an outline of your card blank. Weld the two shapes together and cut out all the lines you don’t want to cut to create a half balloon shape.
I opted for option two, as you can see. It was really simple to do and gave me inspiration to think about other similar cards I can make with other shapes. This was the first card I made. I love how the blue and orange work so well together! The cardstock used is from my trusty Papermania cardstock pack. It’s so easy just to pull out some complementary colours from this.
I went with black bakers twine for the cards as I knew I’d be using black ink for the stamp. The stamp is part of a set from Avery Elle which you can find here. This is quite a new stamp set for me but I’ve found myself reaching for it lots. I’ve never used Avery Elle stamps before but the quality is fantastic. For my second card I wanted to try just one balloon. The stamp is from the same Avery Elle set. I like the colour of this one and feel like you could give it to an adult, no problem.
I loved these cards so much I actually listed them in the shop. I’ve missed having cards in the shop (it’s what I originally started out selling). I’ve only got a few at the moment, but as I find more time to get crafting more will be added to the little cards section.
