Papergang Review – November & December

After taking a few weeks off from the blog in December, I have two boxes to share with you!

Instead of doing two completely separate posts or bypassing November altogether I wanted to do a combined post instead. I have since cancelled Papergang. Not because I didn’t enjoy it, just because I have so many notebooks and pens now! I’m conscious of the fact that I’m not using everything up all that quickly so wanted to give it a break for a while to allow me to use up my backlog.

November

You can’t have a November box without going all Christmassy! This box was in conjunction with Battersea Dogs & Cats Home so naturally it had lots of fun pet designs! Because of the size of the items I couldn’t actually photograph them all together well!

As it was the last box before Christmas it had to have some Christmas cards and these were awesome! I make Christmas cards for my close family and don’t tend to send any to anyone else apart from the people that work for me. These were perfect for those guys to put with their presents!

Had I not already sorted out something cute for their presents, I would have been using this paper too. This has now been saved for next Christmas. It’s a lovely, thick high quality paper and the design is just adorable.

In terms of pure stationery, this month included a notebook.

As you can see, the design matches one of the background on the gift tags. I appreciate how seamlessly all these items go together without being ultra matchy.

The notebook is around A5 size, lined and with a cardboard cover. It’s my favourite kind of binding with a rectangular spine, meaning it will lay flat nicely with a bit of work.

While it is lined, there are markings on the page so you can turn this into grid pages if you needed to. The paper itself feels lovely, is an off-white colour and is a decent thickness. Not super thick, but you shouldn’t be driven mad with lots of ghosting. This a nice thick notebook too and should last me ages. This is my favourite product out of the whole box and will either go in my A5 Notebook cover or come to work with me.

December

I was intrigued as to what would be in this box. Lots to get you ready for the New Year, I hoped.

Unfortunately I took these photos just before I received a full lighting rig as a Christmas present and the natural light was awful!

I was a little confused by this box. The design/theme felt a little random and two more A5 notebooks straight after receiving a thick A5 in November felt excessive. At 40 pages these are like thin exercise books. Both notebooks don’t have the same cover. The plain one has a plain cover which is a shame, as I prefer the plain cover but hate plain paper!

The paper quality is the same of that from the month before – very good.

Sticking with paper, there was this to do list notepad. By far my favourite item from the box and one which now lives permanently on my desk. It’s great for random notes or to dos I don’t want to put in my planner.

I love everything about this from the design, to the page layout to how thick the pad is.

The pens are the same style as ones in previous boxes. They’re a black gel that writes nicely. I don’t particularly like these though after the Gemma Correll ones I received in a previous box damaged really quickly. The lids seem to be quite fragile and easily break so the ink dries up, or the paint on the plastic barrel starts to wear off quickly. So while they’re nice to write with, I don’t think they’re worth the £7.95 price that the leaflet quotes they’re worth.

The birthday card is the same quality it is always is in the boxes. Unfortunately like with the notebook, I’m not really a fan of the design.

Will I resub to Papergang?

Absolutely. December was a bit of a misfire in terms of the design but overall I’ve been really happy with these boxes. I just need to work through some notebooks and then I’ll be back to subscribing! If you want to check it out for yourself you can use my referral link here
