By Wishtrend Pure Vitamin C Serum Review

Vitamin C is probably my favourite skincare ingredient

I’ve been using it consistently for a couple of years now and I’ve had some of the best skin of my life.

If you’re not familiar with Vitamin C and it’s benefits, I highly recommend reading up on the Paula’s Choice website. Although I’ve never tried any PC products, the website is probably one of the most informative skincare websites I’ve come across. In a nutshell though, Vitamin C is a fantastic anti-ageing ingredient. It hydrates, protects, firms up and evens out the skin. I primarily purchased this to help clear up some PIE (basically, acne scarring) I had. It worked a treat and I’ve continued to use it daily for its other benefits. It’s not cleared up my skin completely, but it’s had the biggest effect of any skincare item I’ve used.

I started small and built up the strength of the Vitamin C over time

The latest bottle I’ve used has been from Wishtrend. This is 21.5% Vitamin C. I’ve been using this daily around five times a week. The bottle lasted about three months in total. At around £28 I was happy with the value for money of this. Given my bad experience with my last Vit C oxidising I took precautions and stored this in the fridge. As I use this on a morning I found the chilled temperature of the serum a really nice feeling post-shower.

I used about half the included pipette daily and had no adverse reactions. No dryness or irritation at all. It has a typical serum texture and while it doesn’t soak into the skin immediately, it doesn’t sit on top of the skin and cause any issues with the next steps in my routine.

Unfortunately I found out I was reacting to Niacinamide whilst using this, so I didn’t get the full benefits of using it immediately. However, once I cut out the Niacinamide and just used this on a morning, and Retinol on an evening, my skin was beautifully clear. I’m also seeing some anti-ageing benefits from the serum when used in conjunction with Retinol. Vitamin C and Retinol really are the perfect combination for my skin. If you’re planning on using Retinol alongside Vitamin C though, be sure to use it on an evening if using the Vit C in the morning.

For my next Vitamin C I’m trying something slightly stronger

However, it doesn’t look like there are that many stronger formulations out there. So unless I really love the new serum I’m trying, I’ll likely go back to this as my skin seems to love it so much.

This is only my second Wishtrend product. I purchased it alongside the Skin Prep Water (which I also love) so I’ll definitely be adding to my collection. If you have any product recommendations, please leave them in the comments below!
