Balloon greetings cards

Still in a cardmaking groove at the moment, I decided to make some cute versatile cards.

I love balloons in cards and decided to make some simple cards where a collection of balloons was a focal point. Once again I wanted to make multiple cards so did lots of cuts of everything. I’ve found this is not just a bonus for efficiency reasons, but it also helps hone a design – usually by the last card I’ve got the design to a place where I’m 100% happy with it. You might say maybe I should plan my cards more but I work better doing it as I go along.

The idea was simple: a collection of three balloons with a strip of complementary paper along the bottom. From there it was just a case of adding embellishments/sentiments until I was happy.

This was the first incarnation…

I decided to use some more My Mind’s Eye papers for these cards – these papers are from the Just Splendid range. I didn’t want the card to be too busy so I used two patterned papers and then some matching yellow card for the balloons. The balloons and paper strip are all attached on foam dots so it doesn’t look too flat.

I decided to finish the card with a woodchip heart and a Pebbles ‘congrats’ sentiment sticker. I like this card but think the placement of the balloons could be slightly better. They look a bit too neat, if that makes sense.

I much prefer the placement of the balloons in this one. The paper along the bottom also lays a little flatter which I was happier with. I decided to leave this without a sentiment so it could be for anything – or could be customised should a customer wish.

For the final one I made it again without a sentiment but instead found that the woodchip numbers from Freckled Fawn fit in the balloon perfectly. This card is therefore customisable with a number from 1-31 (the number was just attached with blu tack for the purpose of the picture).

I love these pretty and simple cards. I can imagine taking one from shop stock the next time I need a cute card for someone. In the meantime, they’re all listed on Etsy if you like them!

What do you think?
