Pretty butterfly birthday cards

I really need to stop making greetings cards with butterflies on them!

I definitely have some set styles of cards that I just always fall back on. Today I’ve mixed two of my old favourites – butterfiles and apertures!

One day I was sorting through my scraps box as I like to try and use bits from there from time to time and came across lots of butterflies. They were obviously left over from the other hundred butterflies cards I’d made in the past. I decided to try and put them to good use and came up with a simple card idea.

I love the paper I’ve used for the background here. It’s from the Now & Then My Mind’s Eye range and I wish I had more of it. The paper pad looks to be discontinued now sadly. It’s a lovely background and I like the contrast here between the wood effect and pink. I’ve used just simple white cardstock here and stamped on an Avery Elle sentiment using Staz On ink. As is also pretty standard for me, I finished the card off with a few enamel dots.

I also had some gold vellum butterflies.

More My Mind’s Eye papers here, but this time from the Necessities collection. These were more scrap butterflies. I love using this vellum in my projects. I’ve yet to find a way to hide the glue dots underneath vellum though. If you look closely in the picture, you can see where they are!

How often to go through your scraps box? Does it inspire you to create?
